Champions Online: Typos

I’ve played a number of different MMOs, and over the years have noticed different typos and spelling errors in quest dialogue boxes and in mission briefings. Today, while playing Champions Online, I was standing around, waiting for a certain object to manifest, when I noticed the following dialogue from a nearby ARGENT henchmen pop up:

Dialogue Box

Instead of being spelled as ‘Millennium City’, which would have been correct, it showed up as ‘Mellenium City’. At first I thought it was just my imagination, so I paid no mind. After flying around the area for a bit, I saw it again and knew it wasn’t just my imagination.

I could report this, but it’s so insignificant to the overall game, that I am not going to. Instead, I’m just granting it immortality in the depths of my blog, where other notable errors have been recorded over time.

Until the day there is no more bad spelling, Mitra will go on fighting bad spelling in her quest to rid the world of evil.

Simpsons Did it!

Once in a blue moon, the perfect screen cap from one of your favourite shows comes along. With it, the perfect opportunity to mess with what the creators worked day and night to achieve. Equipped with just MSPaint and 5 minutes of boredom, how quickly a cartoonist’s work is turned on him.

BEFORE – The original image.

Unedited screencap

AFTER – 5 minutes later with MSPaint…

I’m a PC and I’m a MAC – Canadian Style!

This link is found at the David Sparrow campaign website. It’s one of many humorous pieces there. It was sent to me this morning by my husband who had nothing better to do before heading off to a client site while I’m sitting in a crowded lecture hall taking notes on the Canadian judicial system.

Essentially, it’s a spin-off of the PC-MAC ads. Only it’s actually funny.

Episode 1

That’s just the first episode. And if you share a sense of humour with the rest of us, do watch the rest, which are found on that website; the link is at the bottom. It’s perfect evidence that Canadians aren’t short on talent and that we do have a sense of humour. Even if the rest of the world doesn’t get it. Hell, how many people “get” English humour who aren’t either English or a rabid frothing-at-the-mouth fan of Monty Python*?

* This blogger realises that this is a gross generalisation and apologises to anyone who was offended by her verbal diahorrea and hopes her readers have a sense of humour as well.

And the Down Side Is…?

Correct me if I’m missing something or not getting the whole picture but… seeing this head line: Springhill inmates protest smoking ban by staying in their cells inspires me to think, there is a downside to convicts staying in their cells. Am I the only one thinking why is anyone making a big deal out of it? Shouldn’t we be rejoicing? After all, these are convicts who WANT to stay in their cells. Why is this being made to sound like such a bad thing, isn’t this what we want when we send people to prison for breaking the law, to just sit there and think long and damn hard about what they just, just like when one was 5 years old?

I don’t know about you, but this deserves a LOLcat (or the next best thing).
