Plastic Cop: Deterring drivers since 2007
Some drivers speed and that’s a fact. It doesn’t matter what the posted limit it, people will go over that limit because they don’t think that there is anyone watching them. And even if there wasy, that other drivers seem to be driving faster than they are.
Photo radar doesn’t work as a deterrant as it has been shown over the years, but the sight of a cop with a radar gun is enough to put the brakes on any luxury sports car.
Or what about a cardboard cut-out of a cop holding a radar gun? It seems to have worked to a degree in the town of Smyrna, in Tennessee. Many drivers have been forced to slow down because they are unable to differentiate betweem a real life cop and the cut-out that was designed originally by Jim Gammon, who after the first month was asked by the city to commission another because the first was such a success.
I wonder if this would work in Toronto where the people drive like headless chicks with their driving foot glued to the gas pedal…
